WITH THE STRESS RELIEF METHOD (SRM)
Stress is now considered one of the leading causes of disease(s) in the United States, with millions of Americans suffering from this silent and deadly killer.
When we say Stress, we are referring to the three (3) basic types of stress: Emotional, Chemical and Physical.
Chemical stress – coffee, alcohol, drugs, acidic foods, sugars
Mental stress – work or family issues
Physical stress – repetitive movements, asymmetries or trauma
Nitric Oxide Release stretches reduce stress
“Nitric oxide is the most important molecule in the human body.” – Dr. Louis Ignarro, Nobel Prize Winner.
Nitric oxide (NO) reduces and lowers stress hormones (Cortisol), breaks down lactic acid, (sore muscles), and helps with cardiovascular circulation (vasodilation). Nitric oxide became recognized in the 1990’s when it was named the molecule of the decade, and then in 1998, three scientists received the Nobel Prize for their work on the relationship of nitric oxide and the cardiovascular system: Furchgott; Ignarro; and Murad.
Nitric Oxide Release (NOR) patent-pending stretches are a well-coordinated series of untwisting stretches which result in an increased release of nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide is a short-lived molecule with long-lasting, physiological effects in the cardiovascular, immune and nervous systems. Nitric oxide is produced from L-arginine by nitric oxide synthase, which occurs in three forms: endothelial, neuronal and inducible. It plays an important role in vasodilation and in the regulation of arterial blood pressure as well as reducing the tension on the fascia.
NOR deals with the universal pattern that stress leaves in the body, known simply as, “The Twist”, by increasing nitric oxide.
Active (NOR) Stretches
The Active (NOR) program incorporates 8 Applied-NOR-Stretches by a trained physician, called the (Physician-Applied-NOR). These stretches remove the twist in the facial system that is binding the tissues and slowing down blood and lymph drainage. Once the patient has been un-twisted they can return to their regular daily activities feeling their very best. The whole process takes approximately 10-15 minutes to perform.
Trauma, such as sports injuries, car accidents, surgeries, repetitive stress injuries, or just habitual poor posture have cumulative effects on the body and cause a fascial twist. Fascial restrictions can exert excessive pressure and cause all kinds of symptoms that produce pain. Fascial restrictions affect our flexibility and stability, and play a critical role in our ability to withstand stress and perform daily activities.
Fascia restrictions do not always appear on standard tests like (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.). Because of this a high percentage of people suffering with pain and dysfunction may have undiagnosed or misdiagnosed fascial problems. The Active (NOR) is safe, unique, efficient, and effective at the reduction of stress and fascial tension.
The FASCIAL TWIST
The TWIST is a physical manifestation of the three types of stresses placed on the fascia. This twist is often subtle and not seen and/or ignored until it produces pain or dysfunction. The Twist affects all movements of the body from the cervical spine down to the toes.
Fascia is the biological fabric that holds our body together by a connective tissue network. Fascia is the 3-D spider web of fibrous, sticky proteins that bind them all together in proper placement. It is essential in the balance between stability and mobility; crucial for performance; and it’s critical in recovery from injury and disability.
Fascia is a specialized system in the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web. A great way to picture Fascia is to picture the white part of an orange when you peel it. Fascia is very densely woven. It covers and interpenetrates every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as all our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption.
The entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia. In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When chemical, physical and emotional stresses cause scarring or inflammation, the fascia loses its pliability and becomes twisted. It becomes tight, restricted, and the primary source of tension in the body.
